A native of Connecticut and cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, Betsy began her career in the New York fashion industry. Relocated to Los Angeles, she launched her eponymous design firm in 1996. Betsy lives in Hancock Park with her husband Mark Stern, daughter Carson, son Will and three dogs, Lola, Nina Garcia and Felix.
Saranne Thomas, a native Northern Californian arrived in LA by way of Orange County, is Senior Designer / Project Manager at Burnham Design. She may or may not be a typical California girl…but she does spend 75% of her free time at the beach. Saranne earned her BA in Interior Architecture from the Interior Design Institute in Newport Beach. She has a decidedly Bohemian point of view and a natural flair for adding color and texture to any room. Saranne oversees all projects at Burnham Design - juggling client relations, vendors, and installs with her signature blend of positivity and creativity.
After graduating with a B.A. from Vassar College, Spencer Richards worked on the interior design-focused Nate Berkus Show, followed by designer positions in New York City with Mr Call Designs and David Kleinberg Design Associates, where he decorated homes in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Palm Beach and Mustique. With his spare time, he throws ceramic pieces, bakes his own bread, toils in his failing vegetable garden, is learning to sew and to carve wood, and is writing a novel.
Kate Winn comes from Laguna Beach. Her style has been influenced by her Southern California upbringing as well as her time spent living in France after college. She has a BA in Communications from University of Southern California and an Interior Design Certificate from UCLA Extension. Kate joined the Burnham Design team as an intern and has worked her way up to junior designer. Always organized and prepared, she keeps everyone in the office in line. She loves planning parties for family and friends, beach days and an unexpected shoe.
Austinite turned Angeleno, Adrienne Parker moved to the West Coast 3 years ago and never looked back. Originally from an art background, she developed a love for interior design that led to many great opportunities helping designers manage their workflow and execute their creative vision. She has a soft spot for vintage textiles, mid-century modern design and well-made furniture. Adrienne graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in fine art and additional studies in business. When she's not working, she enjoys drawing, vegan cooking, long runs, her cat (Lenny) and exploring the many museums of L.A.
Elizabeth Vitiello hails from New Orleans and originally trained in fashion design, earning her BFA with honors from Otis College of Art & Design. After several years as a clothing and jewelry designer in LA + NYC, she has happily found her niche at Burnham Design.
Elizabeth credits her Southern grandparents for inspiring her trad-meets-mid-century aesthetic from a young age. Through her pursuit of art, Elizabeth has honed a sophisticated taste level and a creative approach to visual presentation. As a Design Associate, she brings a keen eye for detail and a passion for hunting down the perfect piece.
Originally from the East Coast, Kara Templeton moved to Los Angeles for love and stayed for the avocados. As a BD design assistant she brings an enthusiasm for traditional architecture, chinoiserie, and mixed prints. She also believes life is too short to live with bad art.
When she's not at Burnham Design, she's scouring flea markets for Chinese porcelain, browsing shelter blogs, and running her online shop, Ecru.
Kara graduated from Wellesley College with degrees in Philosophy and Fine Art. She currently lives in Pasadena with her husband, Giampiero and their terrier pup, Enzo.
Independently and with Burnham Design, Dave has consulted on residential remodeling and construction jobs for almost twenty years. With a background in architecture and project management, he supervises construction elements for all Burnham Design projects and oversees the design and fabrication of custom furniture, cabinetry and built-ins.
